SCAM ALERT: The Truth About Shift.Careers (Deceptive Subscriptions & Cyprus Registry)

If you are currently looking for a job or trying to transition to a new career, please read this before typing your credit card details into Shift Careers (shift.careers).
What looks like a helpful career guidance platform is actually a predatory billing trap designed to drain your bank account.
The Scam: Sky-High Promises, Fake Products
Shift Careers lures in vulnerable job seekers by heavily implying that they will secure you a high-paying job or a direct career transition. Once they have you hooked, the reality is completely different:
  • The Fake Product: Instead of job placement, they sell an overpriced, generic coaching app and basic resume templates.
  • The Forced Auto-Debit: Completing their onboarding automatically signs you up for continuous, unauthorized monthly recurring billing cycles.
  • The Ghost Support: They continuously auto-debit your bank account without your explicit permission, and their customer support ignores cancellation requests.
Why They Are Registered in Cyprus
Shift Careers is legally registered as an offshore shell company in Nicosia, Cyprus. They do this for one specific reason: to evade local consumer protection laws and avoid court cases.
Because they operate out of an international jurisdiction, they believe local banks and authorities cannot touch them. They use this legal loophole to trap people in endless subscription loops.
How to Protect Yourself Immediately
If you have already given them your information, do not waste time arguing with their support team. Take these steps right now:
  1. Change Your Cards: Call your bank immediately, cancel your compromised debit/credit card, and request a completely new card number. This is the only 100% effective way to stop the recurring tokens.
  2. File a Bank Chargeback: Demand a chargeback from your bank for all past charges. Tell your fraud department that this is an “Offshore Shell Company using Unauthorised Recurring Billing for Services Not As Described.”
  3. Report Internationally: File a scam report at econsumer.gov (for cross-border fraud) and reportfraud.ftc.gov to help authorities track down and block their merchant processors.

Missing Good in the noise of goodness.

India today avoids asking one fundamental but uncomfortable question:

Is policy being designed for nation builders or merely for vote banks?

A civilizational economy cannot survive if the discussion is only about distribution and never about creation. A country grows when producers, risk-takers, professionals and taxpayers expand wealth. But our policy discourse often speaks as if wealth already exists and only needs redistribution.

Yes, a majority may not pay income tax directly. But the deeper question is different: Should contribution be measured only by numbers or also by responsibility?

Today we see three silent pressures building:

• The compliant middle class feels punished for honesty (No job security model).
• Aspirational families are crushed under education, healthcare and housing costs ( No health insurance for the middle classes).
• Policy signals sometimes reward economic passivity more than upward mobility (Unhealthy social signals).

This creates a dangerous psychological shift — when effort does not feel respected, motivation declines. And when motivation declines, national productivity declines.

Another contradiction is rarely discussed.

We borrowed taxation structures inspired by Western models like VAT and regulatory frameworks from Europe and the UK. But did we equally adopt their taxpayer protections? Did we adopt their strong social security accountability? Did we adopt their administrative efficiency?

We imported extraction mechanisms faster than protection mechanisms.

Even outdated "Mafia aligned" legal ideas like adverse possession continue, raising a simple moral question:-

If property rights are the foundation of economic confidence, why tolerate doctrines that weaken ownership certainty?

So the real governance debate should be:-

Is democracy only arithmetic of votes?
Or is it also recognition of contribution, compliance and nation building?

A stable society requires balance, just like the original functional logic behind Varna:

• Protection for the vulnerable.
• Opportunity for the striving.
• Respect for the contributors.

Remove any one pillar and imbalance begins.

India does not need a debate only on redistribution , India needs a serious debate on:-
wealth creation,
taxpayer dignity,
and pathways of mobility.

Because civilizations decline not when poverty exists,
but when productivity stops being respected and personal ideas of greatness start dictating the fate of the majority.  Today when I see crowds resisting progressive policies, like population control I'm reminded of the wrongs done by the then policy makers.

In my next Book- "The Heroes we couldn't have", I will be  discussing more about such misalignment between the democratic ideals and the ground reality.

Varna Vyavastha: Beyond Jaati and Caste book ends the Hereditary varna myth

What if the biggest misunderstanding about Varna has shaped Indian society for centuries?

After months of research, writing, and reflection, my book - Varna Vyavastha: Beyond Jaati and Caste, is finally published and available across Amazon.com, Amazon EU, and Amazon.ca. The eBook version was earlier available exclusively on Amazon.in and Amazon.com.

Until recently, the print edition was not available in India. With the latest release by Notion Press, the book can now be accessed in both paperback and hardback formats.

Beyond examining the historical and philosophical foundations of Varna Vyavastha, the book introduces Social OCD—a research concept I proposed last year—to explain certain patterns of rigid social behavior and inherited social conditioning.

The work also revisits a fascinating framework: 108 personality traits, originally discovered and documented by Indian thinkers but gradually forgotten over time.

While researching Varna Vyavastha, I also uncovered an intriguing connection between Varna and astrology. This perspective challenges the rigid belief that jāti is purely hereditary. Instead, it suggests that human tendencies and personality traits may have been understood historically through broader cosmic and astronomical frameworks rather than birth alone.

If this interpretation is correct, it fundamentally challenges the idea that social identity must remain fixed across generations.

My hope is that this work encourages deeper inquiry, constructive debate, and a willingness to re-examine long-held assumptions. Truth has a way of dissolving even the strongest dogmas.
